“Take me away Spanish Caravan, I know you can. No?
Well then, let’s get drunk off this Gypsy wine,
grow a rad beard and get fat.” –JIm Morrison
It’s back. Almost.
A Trader Joe’s exclusive wine that has developed a following of fanatics dedicated to its consistent quality and value and a wine that has sporadic availability, Chariot Gypsy Red Wine is said to be returning to stores on or after Oct. 25th with a 2010 vintage.
The collaboration between winemaker Jim Neal and Trader Joe’s is a bit more mysterious this time around with 63% of its composition being an undisclosed proprietary red blend. The reason given was that certain components of the blend could reveal the anonymous source of the grapes. This means that there is probably some eccentric grapes in the blend, which we can only guess at once we’ve tried it.
The rest of the wine is rounded out by 22% Cabernet (presumably Sauv) and 15% Merlot.
Look for it, you crazed Gypsy fiends, starting Oct. 25th.
